Hypnosis for Fears and Phobias

I have been thinking a lot about fear lately. Not all fears are harmful, in fact many are useful and beneficial to our safety. There are fears that nearly all people seem to manifest since birth, such as fear of snakes, spiders, and heights. If you have one of these fears and can function quite well by avoiding the object that stimulates the fear, then it is quite easy to live with that fear. But what about when a fear or phobia begins to interfere with a person's emotional, social, or work life? Then it may be good time to consider hypnotherapy.

Some questions to ask yourself:

  1. Is my fear taking up a lot of time or do I think about it constantly?

  2. Is my fear affecting other relationships in my life?

  3. Is my fear affecting my physical condition?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, you would be a candidate for hypnotherapy!

Unlocking the phobia or fear may be hard to understand, but here are some reasons why/how the fear rooted:

*Severe stress

*Series of experiences occurring over a period of time

*Fear of fear itself - anticipating panic and anxiety

*Imposed on you by an outside force, i.e. how your parents reacted to storms

*Painful, emotional past experience

Identifying the specific event that caused the fear and cutting that tie may be an option for hypnosis - this is called Regression. However, this is not for everyone especially if the fear originated from an extremely traumatic situation, it would be best to work with a licensed psychotherapist. If you decide to explore your memories through regression, you will be able to confront the fear while experiencing it as non threatening. You will be able to see how strong and confident you are now and be able to reframe the "hold" that that fear/phobia as on you. Finally, regression offers an opportunity to reprogram your subconscious mind with positive suggestions in regard to your specific fear.

Here are some specific fears/phobias that Hypnotherapy has been an effective way to overcome:

Crowds, social anxiety, animal, opposite sex, darkness, bridges, driving, heights, airplanes, enclosed spaces, open spaces, water, being alone, being touched, child birth, heart attacks, fear of fear itself.
